We have now been told that the colours that many feel will be leading in home decor will offer some colour and more warmth than past years. Benjamin Moore’s is considered a leader and their choice for colour of the year is Simply White (OC-117).
Why white? Well which shows off shadows, darks and lights and is the basis for much design over the last many years. Used on walls, trim, kitchens, baths, furnishings and more, they have approximately 250 whites so choosing can be difficult.
If you pick up a brochure of whites you can instantly see the difference in some colours. Some are warm while others are colds. Some look muddy while others blue. It is very tricky and many change depending on the lighting.
For this reason, Simply White was more consistent with good results.
I just used this colour in my home in several rooms and my only drawback was coverage. I found some areas I could see the colour through so I had to apply another coat. Well worth the effort.
