Burlington is a city rich in arts, culture, waterfront marinas, parks and festivals. Known for its many waterfalls along the escarpment, it further offers its residents an appealing variety of homes and lifestyles. Everything from lakefront estates and condos, to warm and friendly neighbourhoods bordered by golf courses is available in this beautiful city.

In addition to planned subdivisions at its heart, the City of Burlington rural communities to the North such as Kilbride, Carlisle and Mount Nemo offer a rural lifestyle.

Burlington’s downtown, along the shores of beautiful Lake Ontario, provide residents with a vibrant mix of residential neighbourhoods, shops and restaurants. Smaller communities within the City – such as Aldershot – are home to some of the most expensive real estate in the Golden Horseshoe.

Nestled between two defining geographical features – the Niagara Escarpment and the northwest shores of Lake Ontario – Burlington’s total land area is 187 sq. km (73 sq. miles or 46,300 acres). While Burlington’s urban area is located mainly south of the Parkway Belt and Highway 407, its agricultural, rural residential, golf courses and conservation areas are in the northern reaches.

Burlington is proud of its green city heritage with more than 581 hectares (1,436 acres) of parkland and a quality of life second to none. In 2013, MoneySense Magazine rated Burlington the #1 mid-sized city in Canada to live. If swimming, skating or golfing is your bag, you’ll be happy to know Burlington offers 4 indoor and 2 outdoor pools, 3 splash pads, 12 ice pads, 6 community centres, and 9 local golf courses. Some of the best hiking in the world awaits you on the Bruce Trail and the Niagara Escarpment, a UNESCO-designated World Biosphere Reserve. The Waterfront Trail – part of the Niagara-on-the-Lake to Québec border trail – skirts the shores of Lake Ontario and Burlington Bay/Hamilton Harbour. The cream-coloured sandy beaches and tepid waters at Beachway Park make hot summer days a welcomed event. Burlington Beach is a busy destination.
